The Art of Persuasive Speech For Young Children

Updated: Aug 14

The art of persuasive speech is like a superpower that helps you share your ideas and convince others to see things your way. Imagine you want to convince your friends to play your favorite game. Instead of just saying, "Let’s play this game," you could explain why it's so much fun, how everyone can enjoy it, and maybe even share a funny story about the last time you played. When you use your words to make others excited about your idea, you’re using persuasion!

To persuade others, it’s important to speak with confidence and kindness. Start by thinking about what your friends care about. If they love being active, you might talk about how your game has lots of running and jumping. If they like challenges, you can explain how your game is full of exciting surprises. When you show that you understand what they like, they’re more likely to listen to you and agree with your idea.

Another trick is to make sure you speak clearly and look at your friends while you talk. This shows that you’re serious and really believe in what you’re saying. Don’t forget to smile and be friendly, too! When people see that you’re happy and excited, they’re more likely to feel the same way. And remember, even if your friends don’t agree right away, that’s okay. Keep practicing your persuasive speech, and you’ll get better at sharing your ideas and making a big impact!
